Abstract

In the fascinating non-fiction book Moneyball (and the movie produced therefrom) the story is told of a major league
baseball general manager whose team (the Oakland Athletics) did not have the revenue to compete with other major
league teams in hiring the expensive superstar players whose celebrity and superior abilities were thought to be
necessary for a winning baseball team.
